Ferrule lengths and their applications vary depending on where they are used. They are suitable for butt welding and port additions on vessels, but different overall lengths are needed to secure the clamp and gasket. The Short (WMP) length is perfect for butt welding and creating extension tubes, with its slight overall length allowing for the use of a clamp and gasket. For larger vessels or flat surfaces with a close wall to the flange, the Long (AMP) ferrule provides a bit of extra overall length.
