Garden-hose to NPT adapters and connectors are commonly used to join garden hoses to other hose types that have different diameters. The non-garden hose slides over the push-fit end of the fitting, which has teeth (or barbs) to hold the hose in place and create a seal. Using a hose clamp is the best practice for securing the tubing.
