In 2018, I started Gorman & Smith, a Canadian supplier of sanitary stainless steel fittings and brewery equipment, hoping to support breweries behind the scenes. I never expected that just a few years later, that small business would grow strong enough to acquire one of my original suppliers. Today, I’m incredibly proud to announce that Cellar Supply has found a new home at Gorman & Smith.
Eric Plowman, the founder of Cellar Supply, built a business focused on quality stainless parts, strong relationships, and a practical understanding of what brewers truly need. His carbonation stones and tri-clamp fittings ended up in many of the breweries I worked on while still with Dynamic Brewing Solutions. When Eric reached out last year to discuss winding down operations, he clarified that he didn’t just want to walk away, he wanted his customers looked after.
In recent years, the Canadian stainless supply chain has changed dramatically. U.S. companies have acquired many local distributors, shifting purchasing south of the border. That’s led to longer lead times, unpredictable pricing, and added pressure from tariffs. Eric faced those challenges, too. Tariffs on Chinese stainless steel made it hard to keep margins stable, even while maintaining fair prices for brewers.
Because Gorman & Smith is Canadian-owned, we don’t face those same roadblocks. Canada’s trade relationship with China gives us better access to reliable inventory and lower landed costs, which means we can stock high-quality stainless parts at better prices. We’ve now secured direct access to the trusted factories Eric worked with for years.
While the Cellar Supply website is being phased out, you’ll find the same great products — including carbonation stones, tri-clamp fittings, and brewers hardware — now available at gormansmith.com. We’ve modernized the product listings, added dimensional drawings and spec sheets, and made it easier for brewers and food processors to find precisely what they need. The full lineup of Cellar Supply carbonation stones, now listed under the Cellar Supply name, is at gormansmith.com.
All Cellar Supply orders now ship from our Canadian warehouse. For Canadian customers, this means faster delivery, no surprise fees, and more consistent inventory. For American customers, it means fewer delays and more predictable cross-border service.
What hasn’t changed is the commitment. If you’ve worked with Eric before, you’ll get the same excellent service and quality and even stronger technical support when needed.
I want to thank Eric for trusting me with this next chapter. I know how much it takes to let go of something you’ve built from scratch. To all our customers, whether you’ve been with Cellar Supply for years or are just getting to know us, thank you for choosing independent suppliers.
This was a big decision, and a big leap. But it’s one I believe in.
If you're a returning Cellar Supply customer or new to Gorman & Smith, we’d love to help you find the right part for your brewery or food production line. Explore the updated collection or get in touch for personalized support.
